A James Beard conundrum, Willows Inn closes, DoorDash lays off over 1,000 employees, and a great suggestion

A new episode of Restaurant Week from Expedite and Family Meal

A short one this week, as Kristen’s microphone troubles continue (sorry) and we question: should people enter the James Beard Awards? [3:30]

Also, after a New York Times investigation that started over a year ago, Willows Inn on Lummi Island in Washington will close, and the property is being donated to charity. [9:16]

DoorDash announced layoffs, cutting over 1,000 corporate employees just weeks after its earnings report beat Wall Street expectations. [13:14]

…and it’s not alone. Wonder, the startup that cooks dinner in a van outside your house, is laying off 7 percent of its staff, and reportedly trying to sell off vans and some kitchen equipment. [17:00]

And to finish, Andrew has thoughts on our potential future as startup consultants:

“Can somebody just call us, like, if you guys want, we are happy to consult on your new idea. If you have got a big, bold vision, we might cheer you on. We might say, that sounds like a game fucking changer.”
